The texture is a subtle linen, smooth enough to stamp on, but deep enough to be noticed. Each sheet is like two solid sheets fused together, so it has a solid core that gives you fabulous results when torn or distressed.

I almost always use a half-sheet of DoubleMates cardstock as my card base and find it to be sturdy enough. If you are a person who prefers a thicker cardstock base, it also makes a perfect base layer on a heavier card.

The coolest thing about using DoubleMates is that you can flip it over and have a new color that perfectly coordinates with the first! And, if this isn't enough for you, the coordinating line of ColorMates 65# smooth cardstock comes in 144 tones that make wonderful layers.

Both DoubleMates and ColorMates work extremely well with die cut/embossing machines. I use my Big Shot with Sizzix and Nestabilities dies all of the time, with excellent results.
